On oasis in the desert, this highly acclaimed Thomson-Wolveridge layout has been
compared with famous courses around
Palm Springs in California. The fairways
are pure couch and the greens are fast,
undulating and true. There's no shortage
of sand for the beautifully formed bunkers that adorn the layout. Golfers who have
experienced desert golf know the sensation
of seeing the white ball contrast against
the dark green fairway, the red rock and
the blue sky.
The course opened in 1985 with a match
play exhibition in which Greg Norman
defeated Johnny Miller.

Gently undulating fairways except for the dramatic drop from the elevated first tee with its panoramic view over Encounter Bay, its Islands and the Bluff. Norman Von Nida was moved to say that he had not seen the equal of this view anywhere else in the world. Fortunately an electric rope tow is provided to assist one back up to the clubhouse on the final hole. Neat dress code.
