A true links that rises out of the sea and is set totally in coastal sand dunes. Magnificent views from the fairways over King George Sound. From July to October a good chance to spot whales calving. Once described by Craig Parry as his favourite Australian golf course. The windswept fairways are typical linksland with swales and undulations, and the smooth greens are very quick with subtle variations. The vegetation consists of Albany “woolly” bushes and “peppies” that make
for tight driving from many tees. The course plays particularly long with the hardy
kikuyu grass and prevailing wind conditions.
A very enjoyable and testing layout. Soft spikes required.

Set on a sandy hilltop above the Halls Head Peninsula, the course comprises very gently undulating couch fairways that wind between rows of mature Tuart, Marri and wattle trees. The greens are superb and true to putt on, firm, mostly flat but with a few surprising undulations. The course is compact with a layout that demands no long walks from green to tee. Whilst the fairways are generally flat, the mounding around bunkers and greens creates considerable interest and encourages precise shotmaking.

The tees are level and well surfaced in tight couch. All are extremely well defined,
strategically bunkered and manicured.

The course is a tranquil haven for abundant western grey kangaroos and birdlife.

The 72 hole Mandurah Easter Amateur Open is held each year in conjunction with the National Two Man Teams Event. The event has been held since 1993.

This brilliant Graham Marsh design reflects the style of traditional Scottish links with fast
running couch fairways (Windsor Green on the original ‘Links' nine and Wintergreen on the ‘Dunes' which opened in Feb 1999) pitted with well-positioned pot bunkers. Red Fescue highlights the light rough and surrounds the pure 1019 Bent grass greens which are a delight to putt on. The course is beautifully undulating and very pleasant walking, soft spikes (optional) are a good idea to cope with the ever-present cart paths.
