Paul Sherratt CPGA, Head Professional, Paul has been at Rideau View Golf Club for 28 years. During this time he is the only two-time winner of the Canadian Club Professional of the Year (1990 & 1995). He was voted Teacher of the Year in 1999 and has been an Assistant Coach of the RCGA National Team Program since 2002. Along with being named Junior Leader of the Year in 2003 Paul is affiliated with the CLGA as a Regional Coach.

Matt Robinson CPGA, Associate Professional, Matt, too, has a long history at Rideau View, first joining as a sponsored junior, then, turning professional in 1993. He has been the Associate Professional since 1997. Matt is the Head Coach for the Ottawa Girls Club and is a Regional Coach for Golf Quebec/Ottawa District Player Development. BRYAN DECUNHA Owner ¥ bdecunha@dragonsfiregolf.com The birth of DragonÕs Fire GC is directly linked to BryanÕs entrepreneurial spirit and his passion for the game of golf. He picked up the game in the mid 1970s as a way of doing business and building those rela?tionships. Since that time, the game has gripped his soul for both the good rounds and the ones he would sooner forget. For Bryan it has always been more than a game. It has been a personal challenge to improve from one day to the next. The other main reason for his love of the game is its natural beauty Ð time enjoyed walking fairways surrounded by trees, streams, wetlands, a summer breeze or the setting sun. ItÕs also one of the driving forces behind his decision to build DragonÕs Fire. A real estate developer by trade, Bryan first became involved in golf course development with the construction of Royal Ontario Golf Club. After having been the managing partner for four years, he sold his share in 2006. As an avid golfer, Bryan is a member of both Credit Valley G&CC and Mississaugua G&CC. With the completion of DragonÕs Fire, he has fulfilled his goal of building a Ôno compromiseÕ high end golf facility to cater to public golfers at all levels, at a reasonable price.

MICHAEL DOMBEK Head Professional ¥ mdombek@dragonsfiregolf.com Michael comes to DragonÕs Fire GC as the Head Professional with both a solid business and strong golf background. Prior to arriving at DragonÕs Fire, Dombek spent one season as the General Manager of Brant Valley GC just outside Brantford. He was responsible for day-to-day operations of the course including clubhouse management, the food and beverage section, overseeing the maintenance department, as well as the golf operations. Prior to that Michael was the Head Professional for Chedoke GC, a 36-hole municipal facility operated by The City of Hamilton. Over the years, the 40-year-old has worked at some of the finest golf facilities in the GTA including The Toronto GC, Lionhead GC, and North Halton G&CC Club. He also worked four winters as a teaching professional at the Ontario Racquet Club Winter Golf Academy in Mississauga. Michael has successfully completed the CPGA Teaching Certification Workshops 1 to 4, and is recognized as a CPGA Certified Teaching Professional. In addition to having his CPGA Professional Class ÒAÓ status, Michael earned a BA in Economics from Laurentian University, as well as an Honours Certificate in Business Administration from Humber College. He lives in

Oakville with his wife Heidi and their two children Carter and Alexander. SIMON WALSH Superintendent ¥ swalsh@dragonsfiregolf.com Simon was on his way to being an artist when he started working part-time on the grounds crew at Glen Abbey Golf Club near the family home in Oakville. He soon started working fulltime at The Abbey and completed his mechanics apprenticeship from 1988 to 1995. He also had the added benefit of working on the grounds crew for seven Canadian Open Championships. Simon moved to Chilliwack, BC where he worked for two years building and growing in The Falls GC. He opted to further his education by returning to Ontario to attend University of Guelph where he graduated with an Associate Diploma in Horticulture in 1998 and won the Western Ontario Superintendents Award. He gained valuable experience in renovation and construction projects at MississaugaÕs Credit Valley G&CC in 1999 and 2000. Simon then moved over to be the Assistant Superintendent at Beverly G&CC near Hamilton, another course that went through significant renovations. He held that position until accepting the job at DragonÕs Fire GC in May 2007 where he oversaw golf course construction and the grow-in of the grass. Walsh is a member of both the Ontario Golf Superintendents Association and the Canadian Golf Superintendents Association. He immigrated to Canada from England as a youngster and lives at DragonÕs Fire with his wife Merina Allan.

BILL KOVACH Operations Manager ¥ bkovach@dragonsfiregolf.com If youÕre looking for someone to juggle a little bit of everything and keep it all on track, Bill is the man. As Operations Manager, the Brantford native will keep a close eye on the temporary clubhouse when the course opens this spring and will be involved with overseeing construction of the permanent structure this fall. He will also look after food and beverage ordering as well as assist with the set up of tournaments and office administration. Before taking on this role at DragonÕs Fire GC, Bill performed similar duties for owner Bryan DeCunha at Royal Ontario GC for four years. Prior to getting into the golf business, he worked in excess of 30 years in the insurance industry with Allstate Insurance Company in many varied management assignments. Bill and his wife live in Markham. He has been a member at Sleepy Hollow G&CC for nearly 20 years, but hopes to find some time to enjoy DragonÕs Fire this summer.

Brittany Henderson Winning Streak Comes to an End After four years of tournament play, Smiths Falls, OntarioÕs Brittany Henderson walked away from a CJGA event in May with something other than a first place trophy.Ê It has been quite a run for the 17-year-old. By: Roy Gentles roy.gentles@cjga.com Five years of play, 28 tournaments entered, and 25 tournaments won. ÊFor 17-year-old Brittany Henderson of Smiths Falls, Ont., these numbers are not goals or dreams; they are simply a list of her accomplishments. ÊFor the past five years Henderson has dominated the Canadian Junior Golf AssociationÕs (CJGA) Girls 11-19 Division. ÊStarting on the date of May 23nd, 2004 she managed to string together 18 consecutive first place finishes in CJGA tournaments, until it came to an end four years later on May 11th, 2008. To add to an already impressive resume, Henderson is a two-time Mizuno All-Canadian Award winner, a three-time CJGA national champion and currently is a member of the Royal Canadian Golf AssociationÕs (RCGA) Junior Development Team. ÊIn order to maintain an edge on the competition Henderson has put in strenuous hours of practice, receiving instruction from her father, David Henderson as well as Paul Vaillancourt based out of Smiths Falls Golf and Country Club, and the coaching staff of the RCGA team. HendersonÕs golf career began at age 9. ÒPrior to the joining the CJGA the only lessons I had taken were from my dad,Ó she reflects. ÊThe lack of professional training did not slow Henderson down when she started on the CJGA Junior Tour, winning the first tournament she entered at Club de Golf Hautes Plaines in Hull, Que. ÊWith the Girls Division allowing players aged 11 to 19 to compete, it can be intimidating for younger players on the tour to play against girls up to seven years older. ÊÒAt first I was scared, competing against the older players but it was a challenge I was able to overcome,Ó she says. Success at a young age is not achieved without hurdling a number of obstacles along the way. Many young athletes lack the necessary emotional skills to remain competitive through all the ups and downs that that occur during a season, let alone four seasons and for Henderson, the winning streak was no cakewalk. ÊHer tournament streak was filled with some good rounds and some poor ones as there were many tournaments where found herself trailing after day one. ÊÒYou are only as good as your last tournament,Ó she admits, a perspective that sounds like it should be coming from a grizzled tour pro rather than a teenager.Ê This philosophy allows her to remain in the present, which Henderson believes is important and allows athletes to avoid getting wrapped up in the past wins or losses they have experienced. A second challenge that many young athletes face is the task of managing their development throughout their teenage years. On the weekend of May 10th and 11th, the amazing winning streak came to an end as Augusta James from Tamworth, Ont., an up and coming golfer in her own right, managed to force a playoff between Henderson and herself. The two girls teed-off on the par-4 first hole at Loch March Golf and Country Club where James made par to secure the victory. ÊÒEventually I had to have a bad week, there is very good competition out there, though it is still tough to take, Ó she admits. ÊFinishing second place has not changed the way Henderson approaches the game, going into her next tournament her goal was simple, ÒI am just going to go out and play my best.Ó ÊThe simple strategy was successful as she managed get back into the win column after a come from behind victory at Eagle Creek Golf Club in Dunrobin, Ont. There is no doubt that Henderson has a bright future ahead of her. ÊÊHer CJGA win streak of 18 consecutive victories is one that will be very difficult to match for any junior golfer in the future.Ê As for her short term goals, Henderson will prepare for what she hopes is a successful collegiate career south of the border where she will attempt to follow in the footsteps of her golfing idol, Annika Sorenstam. RAY LANGE, DIRECTOR OF GOLF From an early age, golf has played a major role in Ray's life. He first learned to play the game at his family's track in Barrie, Ontario, and later went on to learn the golf course management game there. His playing ability was apparent early on and earned him a golf scholarship to Belmont Abbey College in North Carolina. Ray graduated in 1992, after winning the 1990 Carolinas Conference and being named MVP, first team all-conference. Following graduation, Ray turned pro in 1993 and spent three winters in Florida perfecting his game. Ray has been involved with the Devil's Pulpit Golf Association for many years. In 1994 he introduced the host caddy program, allowing unaccompanied guests to be escorted through the Pulpit and Paintbrush. He helped to bring to the "fore" Wednesday Men's Days at the Paintbrush, a prize-sponsored and fun-filled event that is enjoyed regularly by over 90 members. Ray's most cherished portfolio is the DPGA's President's Cup event, which began in 1996 and remains one of the Club's most popular competitions. By supervising the organization of tee times, uniforms and champions medals, and in coaching the Paintbrush team, Ray continues to ensure this event is a success. Upon completing his Class A examination in 1999, he was promoted to Head Professional of Paintbrush. Ray has been the Director of Golf for Devil's Pulpit Golf Association since 2003. THE DEVIL'S PAINTBRUSH Since it opened in 1992, Devil's Paintbrush has quietly won respect and admiration for its refreshing character as a links-style course that wouldn't appear out of place alongside The Old Course at Ballybunion in Ireland. Links-style golf requires exciting terrain and Devil's Paintbrush has it allÐoutrageous topography, lovely sweeps of land and magnificent scenic vistas. Devil's Paintbrush is the polar opposite of Devil's Pulpit in personality, appearance and playability, and provides golfers with a completely different golf experience. "We tried to be authentic in building a links-style course in every way except that it doesn't have an ocean," said architect Michael Hurdzan, who designed both courses with his associate Dana Fry.

Ron Webb has been South Muskoka's CPGA golf professional since its inception, with a brief hiatus in the 1980s. While some say he must have been born with a microphone in his hand, it was more likely a putter. Ron has always paid special attention to our junior golfing members and organizes a fantastic programme for them. The Club has now sent more than a dozen Bracebridge juniors on to college on golf scholarships. Working with the Golf Committee, Ron and his wife, Jennifer, organize a great selection of tournaments for Club members, as well as open and invitational events such as the Shier's Two Man Better Ball and Tagwagi, our famous fall get together. The Club's Men's and Ladies' Night programmes are tremendously successful, thanks to Ron's enthusiasm, dedication and creativity. These weekly events are open to guests.
