Hi,
I'm Geoff Mangum and I teach putting, write on golf, and live with my
family in Greensboro, North Carolina, just a short drive west of Pinehurst,
the golf capital of America. The climate is moderate so I get to play
year-round!
Over fifteen years ago, I set out to learn all I could about putting.
Since then I've spent innumerable hours researching, reading, observing,
experimenting, analyzing, and practicing putting. During this research,
I compiled a searchable electronic database of over 11,000 references
and resources for putting, and today this powerful collection is available
free to anyone who wants it. (See the Resources
link) Still learning, too!
Throughout this time, I learned the critical role the brain plays in
all human targeting and movement, and concentrated study on the neuroscience
of perception and motor control. Rigorously applying this science, along
with the physics of golf and over 100 years of putting lore, I spend
my time pushing the envelope on putting performance and developing and
refining physical routines and procedures for optimizing targeting and
stroke control in putting.
This study has already received favorable notice from the Human
Kinetics Institute in Champaign, Illinois -- the premier sports
science publishers in the US -- and from the World
Scientific Congress on Golf in St. Andrews, Scotland -- the top
golf science organization in the world supported by the Royal and Ancient
Society of Golf. Presently I am completing my book on putting, The
PuttingZone: Science, the Brain, and the Black Art of Putting, and
expect to have it available soon.
In addition to teaching and playing, I enjoy helping people with putting
problems and just discussing putting with anyone. I publish putting
tips regularly in LCS
Golf's PlayGolfNow newsletter (500,000 golfers each week),
EuroGolfnet.com,
IndyGolf.com,
and NBC Sports' Golf.com, as well as in England
and a number of other sites. I correspond daily with golfers around
the world and I'll be glad to try to help anyone via email, if I can.
I have a special interest in International golf, especially Europe,
Australia, New Zealand, Canada, South Africa, India, and Asia.
Some of the things I do: I play, learn, write,
and teach. I conduct private and group lessons, on-site and on-course
clinics, corporate outings and resort clinics, lectures to sports classes,
and free presentations and one-on-one work with junior golfers and collegiate
team golfers. I recently began appearing on radio golf talk programs,
starting with WJOX in Birmingham, Alabama ("ain't no 'ham like
Birmingham") on Mark Friedman's Golfing Alabama, and then
Sacramento's Golf Talk Radio Show, and Bob Adams' Golf Pinehurst Morning
Show. I travel around and give free live presentations to any golf
teaching pro, on-course pro, or golf media representative. And I'm available
for retail store sessions for groups. And of course I help any touring
pro make more money! Lots more! So let me hear from you!

Park History
Lots of pals here, but Lord
above please save us from career municipal bureaucrats holding
down golf jobs! They give the PGA such a bad name .... I've taught
myself about putting here daily for 15 years, and I've never seen
the head pro practice or teach on his own putting green.
